          Whether you are looking to purchase a new or historical home, or to rent an existing space, housing is readily available in Jersey County. Regardless if you prefer tree-lined streets of the established neighborhoods, new housing developments, condos, loft-style apartments, or country living, Jersey County can accommodate virtually all of your home-style wishes and needs. Everyone has imagined their picture-perfect home and Jersey County has the warmth, diversity and potential to achieve a relaxing haven that you'll be proud to call home.

          Anyone looking to call a new place home regardless of the length of stay is concerned about the well-being of themselves and their families. Foremost in the minds of prospective new residents are the issues of healthcare and education.

Healthcare
          In Jersey County we are blessed with both great healthcare and high quality education. Jersey County is home to the Jersey Community Hospital, a regional 67-bed acute care hospital and 75 physicians including numerous medical specialists. The most current addition to our hospital is the Women's Center which is an OB/GYN specialty unit.

          In addition to the hospital is the Jersey Community Hospital's Wellness Center, a state-of-the-art fitness center that contains cardiovascular equipment, strength circuit equipment, free weights, swimming pool, therapeutic pool, walking track and aerobics studio.

Education
          Jersey County has both public and parochial education systems available. There are six public school elementary attendance centers situated throughout the county with a new attendance center being recently built in Grafton. Illini Middle School and the Jersey Community High School are both located in Jerseyville. Jersey Community High School is also a new state-of-the-art educational facility. The total elementary enrollment for 2006-2007 was 1,168 students with 86 elementary teachers. Illini Middle School enrollment was 555 students with 27 teachers and the high school enrollment was 997 students with 69 instructors.

          The parochial school is the St. Francis/Holy Ghost Catholic School System located in Jerseyville. It provides education for children starting in K through 8.

          There are several quality post-secondary education centers available, within one hour of Jersey County. Lewis & Clark Community College, located in Godfrey, Illinois, is just 15 miles from town and has both standard classes as well as a vocational-technical career program. It is one of the fastest growing community colleges in the nation and provides a very high educational standard. Edwardsville, Illinois is the setting for Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville and Carlinville, Illinois is the home of Blackburn College. Both are growing 4-year traditional educational institutions that have excellent educational standards. Also available within an hour is St. Louis University and Washington University in St. Louis.
